Caring for and Maintaining Your Salon IAOMO Wig
Washing
Wash in Salon IAOMO shampoo or a mild wig shampoo. In a bowl, using 10 to 12 ounces of cool to warm water and shampoo, gently dunk by hand using an “up and down” motion (all in the same direction) in the bowl of water.
Rinsing
Empty shampoo water from bowl, add clean cool to warm water, and apply the same gentle “up and down” motion as shampooing. Rinse all of the shampoo out.
Conditioning
Synthetic Wigs – Empty rinse water from bowl, add clean cool to warm water with 1 half-cap of Downy fabric softener to water, apply the same gentle “up and down“ motion as shampooing and rinsing. Then rinse out conditioner/fabric softener in the same manner as rinsing above.
Human Wigs – Empty rinse water from bowl, add clean cool to warm water with IAOMO Conditioner/Finishing Rinse, dilute conditioner in water and apply the same gentle “up and down“ motion as washing and rinsing.
Drying
Open a towel, place wig in center, close towel around wig and pat towel removing excess water. NEVER use any friction or twist to remove excess water, pat with towel only. Place wig on wig stand or Styrofoam head, style with fingertips or preferred wig brush. Allow your wig to air dry completely on a wig form or a Styrofoam head before removing.
Combing
After your wig is dry, hold the wig upside down and shake it, or place the wig on your head and use fingertips or a wig brush to style the wig if needed.
Putting on your Salon IAOMO Wig
Brush your own hair back away from your face; use the wig cap liner to help achieve that. The wig cap liner will also help you keep the IAOMO wig in place. Put your wig on from front to back. Adjust the position so the front edge of the wig is just over your own hairline in the front. Use the ear tabs on the right and left sides to center your wig. If your wig feels too tight or too loose, use the adjustable straps at the back of the wig to adjust for the most comfortable fit.
Don’ts
Do not use electric drying aids, electric rollers, curling irons, or blowers. Keep away from heat or any open flame.
Tips
Don’t try to get every hair in place; making it too perfect will make it look “wiggy”. If it looks like it needs cleaning, it does. To hold the style in place, use a light hairspray. The Salon IAOMO wig should be professionally cleaned and steamed at least every 6 to 8 weeks to keep it looking its best.
